It’s certainly cold enough, although I’d give quite a bit for some real snow…
I hope that it’s safe to assume that we’ve all worked through all of the autumn and winter sales, and are more than ready to start thinking of Spring!
If you’re difficult to fit, or picky, or wear an unusual size (especially shoes!), this is when you should start looking at your warm weather wardrobe. Having an entirely new outfit queued up for the first warm day is sensible AND fun…
This soft light camel can be worn with darker brown now, and with white later on:
Is this the year that you get yourself a great new spring jacket?
In winter, as in all seasons, the beauty sometimes lies in the details:
The flap on this navy handbag can be changed out for a solid navy one – what a clever idea!
Maybe you want to wear simple, monochromatic outfits this year…
note the mirrored earrings – they come in gold too! I AM tempted…
Touches of warm rust color can be found even in the dead of winter!
Maybe you want to start your new spring outfit with a pretty scarf?
And maybe you’re going full-on bright for spring!
These earrings come in other colors – they are much longer than I usually like, but there’s something about these that REALLY appeals!
Is it wrong to anticipate Spring, when Winter is so beautiful?
I frankly haven’t thought of Spring yet; when my favorite companies start getting Spring clothes in, the temptation will start!
love,
Janice

The photos you choose to accompany this series are always just amazing. I do like the first outfit with the camel. I’m not quite into spring yet, as I see they are forecasting possible snow for next weekend (although here that can totally change around between now and then) and I do love winter clothes the very vest – scarves, cords, sweaters…. boots. Thank you Janice have a good day!
Sheila says
best, not vest. jheez…don’t tell me my typing is going to become as bad as my texting!

I second Sheila’s comment about the photos (and art). You always pick such amazing pieces. My life is truly enriched by those images. When you add in wardrobe planning and management, I am even more happy. Thank you.

I agree with the previous posters – the art you find is amazing. We got “real snow” yesterday, and the butterfly bush outside my living room window looked like pussy willows in full “bloom”. That really warmed my heart, as winter is my least-favorite season. I am struggling with my weight right now, and the fabulous spring/summer wardrobe from two (three?) years ago no longer fits. I don’t want to buy new – I loved those clothes – and I still have twelve or so weeks before it will be consistently warm enough to wear them. Ten pounds should get me into at least some of them (fingers crossed!).

The navy and hot pink (or should I call it fuschia?) is just right for my wardrobe. That purse is adorable and I want one, but I guess I’ll have to wait until I come into a lot of money. The shoes too! In the mean time, I could change out the tassel on my plain navy purse with one in those colors. Thanks for all the terrific inspiration!
NATALIE K says
What a great idea to just change the tassel on our purse!!!
Janice says
I found BEAUTIFUL leather tassels on Etsy- the wee leather pull on my purse’s zipper pulled loose, and I put a big glorious tassel in its place. Inexpensive, easy, and looks so cool!

Janice

We’ve got lots of snow and cold and it’s too soon to think of spring. If I could mail you some of our snow/cold, I would!

We’ve had a snowy but warm January, though that comes to an end over the weekend as the below 0 temps come in, and I’m not yet done with winter. That said, both the hot pink/navy and bright blue/white combinations are very appealing.
I did wonder about the blue print top and blue sweatshirt – are these two different top options or are they intended to be worn together? Because layering that top with its kind of large boxy sleeves under the sweatshirt seems fraught, although maybe since it’s polyester it would compact down easily enough…and you wouldn’t see the top under the sweatshirt anyway. I like wearing tops with the large boxy sleeves (linen or linen/cotton) in the hot days of summer (without a top layer) but layering them is difficult…which has probably gotten my eye scrutinizing tops with these sleeves more than a typical person would!
Janice says
They are 2 options – or tie the sweatshirt over the print shirt. I just really wanted to share that print, because I love the colors!

Janice

Or you could tie a scarf around the purse. It really is fun to see how it changes things up. I’m just happy we are having a solid week of actual sweater weather! Getting my red pinks and wine colors together for February/Valentine month!

When I think ahead to spring, I think I’m looking for a sharp navy blue cardigan and some sort of matching first layer, like a twin set.
I would like this to replace the 3-4 navy cardigans that are just Ok.
I haven’t seen anything yet, but I plan to be fussy. The added issue is that I’m an XXL or 1X.

That look back at brown with blue accents almost tempts me into trying brown again. With a cool toned brown like that and cool toned off white it’s like a Siamese cat colouration. Just beautiful and I normally dislike brown. Just with that blue it’s so perfect.

I’m loving the Japanese seasons. We had several weeks of rain which resulted in flooding. We are now in another cold snap with severe overnight frosts. The floods have frozen over. Someone posted an image on FB today of the frozen fountain in a local public park!
The bag with the detachable front stopped me reading. What a great idea? Two looks for one.
The grey bag is exactly what I’m looking for to replace mine which is battered, but not at that hefty price tag.
I’m glad that you included pieces from Marks and Spencer. It’s about the only shop that makes most of its range available in short, regular and tall. So great for me being small. I buy my lingerie and nighter there too. Are they on your list of companies we can use to support you? M&S is planning on expansion and the tie-ups with exclusive brands are proving successful.
Janice says
Yes, M&S pays me a commission on the US site – I don’t know about any of their others!

Janice
