I’m sorry – this is the only post I will have today. Being sedated on Monday made it impossible for me to do anything useful or constructive for most of the day! I don’t remember ANYTHING before about 8 p.m…. Kind of scary, but everything went well; preventative medicine is an adventure, isn’t it?
Two more days wearing my dress, both days with a tee shirt underneath. I do NOT remember getting dressed after my test on Monday; I suspect that putting on tights was not a lot of fun…
love,
Janice

Love the colour combination of the day 27.

Glad your procedure is over, and that it went well. Whew! Your symbols at the top of the two posts are interesting and I can’t find a correlation-almost like a brain game. I would love to know. And, I am sick to death of my current clothing, so maybe a nice dress with tights would be fun. I have not worn a dress for ages. Well, I am off to sleep, but had to check in. Take care Janice and all.

Are you looking at the five earrings? At leaset, that’s what I think they are.
JoanCecile says
Oh, yes, earrings. Thank you!! And they are unisex.
Janice says
Those are a set of 5 earrings! They are cool looking, and SO comfortable. I have 4 ear piercings, so a set like this is easy to wear…
love,
Janice
JoanCecile says
Wondering if the earrings are hypoallergenic.
Janice says
They are described as sterling silver, with black spinel. I find them REALLY comfortable; the style of their earring backs is hard to describe, but secure and never pinch.
hugs,
Janice

Preventive procedures, as bad as they can be, are way better than the other kind. Glad it turned out well.

Hope you recover well. Even short term anaesthesia takes 24 hours to clear from your system. The purple top and scarf are lovely.

Janice, I’m very glad the procedure went well. I would love to know what you and the TVF readers think about a question of fashion etiquette, if it’s ok to ask on a quiet post day. A family member has passed away and due to a weird glitch, it will be a month before the memorial can be held. I purged my wardrobe of black a year ago. I don’t want to offend anyone, but also don’t want to buy black for a one time wearing. Does anyone think it wrong to wear either dark moss green or navy? Thanks.
Sheila says
I don’t think it would be wrong to wear either of those. The last memorial I went to I wore a dark gray dress with a pink fake fur coat and a hat made of tapestry that had a pink rose floral print. I don’t think a lot of the old “rules” necessarily apply in this day and age.
Janice says
Dear Kari,
You can certainly wear either of those colors; I think the whole point of how you dress for a memorial service is to not be distracting or frivolous. It’s a sober and reflective time, and your clothing shouldn’t call attention to itself when you’re supposed to be thinking about love and connection.
love,
Janice

Many families would feel that dark green or navy or other sober plain outfit is appropriate. However, some families might feel differently. My experience has gone both ways. Can you have a quiet word with someone close to ask?
Beth T says
I wore purple and dark grey to the both delayed funerals of my parents. I’ve also worn navy and plum to other funerals. As long as what you wear is not distracting, unless a particular colour is requested. I have a black jet ring which I wear to funerals like a mourning ring, if anyone asks me why I’m not wearing black. Even my husband just wears a black tie with a grey suit.
Anne says
My mum wore the most beautiful thing she owned to my dad’s funeral because she wanted ‘to be beautiful for him one last time’. It was definitely not a sober outfit, but I always thought it was very thoughtful and really showed her love for him. :)
Janice says
My mother wore a dress that my father had chosen for her – same thinking…
love,
Janice

Glad to hear your procedure went well. Anesthesia *does* take time to clear from your system, so be easy on yourself. You may feel tired for several days.
On a trip that included both cold- and warm-weather destinations, I took a dress very similar to yours. I found so many ways to wear it! With and without tights, with a variety of scarves and jewelry, tees and shirts under, blouse tied at the waist over, pullover sweaters and a boiled wool cardigan over. (The cardigan, which is reversible — black to purple, is another wardrobe workhourse.) Now I always include a dress when we travel. Even on a mostly hiking vacation in Utah and Arizona, it will feel great to be “all cleaned up” in a dress for dinner!
Beth T says
I like the idea of reversible second layers but so often, there are inconvenient labels on the ‘alternate’ side – why?
NATALIE K says
I pray your feeling better!! I’m also very sensitive to anathesia!!
Kristi says
I love these looks! Glad you are feeling better. :)

Wishing you the best after your Monday appointment.
Taking the opportunity to thank you for this blog, which has so many lovely clothing options and inspirations.
Best wishes always.

I also didn’t realize that they were earrings, I thought they were just a new set of Wingdings decorations, because I can’t see the glitter from the settings–it’s just matte black to me. Thank goodness for fall, I looked horrible in pastels when I dyed my hair, and now that it’s salt & pepper, I really look bad in them! Every stylist on the net tells the over “a certain age” to get rid of the black in their wardrobe. Pshaw, I say.
Sorry to hear that you aren’t feeling well. Fortunately for me, my body clears medication rapidly. As a natural auburn-haired person, it takes twice as much anesthesia to numb me up, and after 50 years, I finally tell me I will be nauseated so give me the Zofran before I awake, please.
Kari says
Thank you Janice. I am much relieved to know that the black to funerals is not as strict today. I wore black for my grandparents, but that was years ago. I have been worrying over that question for a few days and am so appreciative of your help.
Kris says
A few years ago I attended a funeral service in which the son of the deceased wore his bowling jacket.

Janice, adding myself to the get well thoughts and prayers! I love the stripped tee outfit, wore one with 3/4 sleeves today with black pants, white sneakers and a Beige rain jacket :)
Martha says
This is probably a ridiculous question, but when you wear tights with this dress, do you have to wear a slip to prevent the dress from riding up? I hate slips!
Janice says
Nope, and I haven’t had any trouble yet! It might be an issue when the weather gets colder and the humidity drops…
love,
Janice
Hol says
Haha, when you realize that anesthetized Janice still has 1,000,000 times the outfit sense you do. :)
We are all grateful you are taking good care of yourself!
Thank you for the posts—this was a much anticipated end-of-day escape for me whilst hunkering in SW FL during Hurricane Ian.
Beth T says
Hope you and your family are safe. We’ve been watching footage in the UK. It’s so rare to get hurricane force winds here, though we get very damaging storms.
Liz Hicks says
Do you have more than one of these dresses? Are you doing the wash every night or frequently at least?
Janice says
Hand wash at night every 10 days or so, hang to dry, steam it in the morning to take out wrinkles. It is amazing in the way that odors do NOT seem to be an issue!
hugs,
Janice

I had a preventative procedure done a month ago and felt like I had finished the decathlon! Please be extra good to yourself, Janice! I hope you or Belovedest bought you some sort of a treat. 💜 💐 🍦 👛 👑 📚
You’re wearing your dress with such versatility! A soft t-shirt under it looks super comfy. I’m really looking forward to seeing you dive into the sweaters and scarves.

Hi Janice – hopefully, you are soon “right as rain”. Not to get on my soap box; colon cancer is a completely preventable disease, and while colonscopies are not that fun (the prep is the worst, I think), I am so glad that you shared the info – hopefully, all your readers will think about scheduling this important test as part of their routine health care.
And the 100 day dress is amazing – I don’t think I want to do it, and I love watching your combos.
