Yesterday, I spend a HUGE portion of the day sitting at my desk (in The Vivienne Files International Headquarters – aka our bedroom!), catching up on things and working on Monday’s blog post.
It’s cool in Chicago, and I mostly wanted to wear something soft and cozy – hence I FINALLY have a chance to wear my sweatshirt from 4 Objects. It is a thing of beauty…

Janice
p.s. I’m surprised that I’m not at all bored with this project; I’m actually thinking that my long-term wardrobe could be nothing more than “columns of black” with 2nd layers… So easy!

Awaiting temperatures appropriate for sweatshirt wearing!

Janice, you must be a minimalist at heart. I am inspired.
Janice says
I need minimal clothing, because I have curly hair (with purple highlights!), glasses, earrings, a big mouth… Too much going on in my wardrobe would just be TOO MUCH…
More normal people will have different results!

We all have our go to style whether it is simple and neutral or the variety of colour and pattern.
My go to style is plain neutral or accent trousers, a patterned top and plain knitwear (neutral or accent), coat/jacket OR a plain top and patterned knitwear or coat/jacket.
I’m currently wearing ocean blue trousers, an ivory top with a coloured floral sprig print and a salmon pink cardigan. During the day, I was out and wore the trousers and top with a silver grey raincoat and a multi coloured butterfly and floral scarf with similar colours to the top. I have ash brown hair, going white, and pink.glasses.

Not sure what people think of me as I have curly hair wear a big watch and bracelets glasses and have a big mouth!! But I want to know what you think of 4Objects. Are you a “collector”? Other readers have mentioned the quality is great. Have you had pieces for awhile and do they hold up? They are a little pricey but timeless and the brand seems to be very ethical. Could you please comment? If I’ve missed this info from you sorry.
Janice says
I am indeed a collector; the clothes that I have from them are possibly the best quality clothing I own. The sweatshirt is a thing of beauty – half cotton, half wool, soft as a cloud. The button-front shirts are lovely fabric, and so well made… I’m a huge fan!

Janice

Oh, I love the cozy look with leggings and a sweatshirt!

I love a black dress with something over it. But how do you keep the dress from sticking to the leggings or tights when you’re actually out and about? Nothing seems to work.
Janice says
Well, this dress is rather flared, so maybe that helps? I honestly haven’t had a problem with it!

Janice

I know all about that static. I can’t say for certainty, but perhaps the quality of the fabric factors in?
Megan says
I think that mainly happens with clothes with made from synthetic fibres. If both the dress and leggings are natural then there is less (maybe none?) static and less clinging, though a skirt with lots of fabric can definitely still get entangled.

I love columns of black with accents of other colors. It’s a perfect formula for me. Thank you for the time you put into your beautiful posts.

For years I’ve traveled exclusively with carry-on luggage: a small roller and a backpack. I quickly joined the “solid column with accents” style school and love how it simplifies my wardrobe both at home and on the road. My two columns are black and gray. I use lots of colorful scarves, or a mix of colored tops with solid jackets or vice versa. Easy-peasey.
Mary says
I love this especially much. A good sweatshirt is my favorite type of garment.

I am intrigued by the monochrome column, and I may try that in October. I have cardigans (short, boyfriend, and duster) in just about every color and a ton of scarves to tie things together. I also have several print cardigans, which I may wear on days that it is too warm to wear a scarf. I can push my skirts/dresses challenge to November; in December we wear library/holiday sweatshirts so that takes me through 2022. I am also down to the last quarter of my “nothing new in ’22” challenge, and am trying to decide what I am going to do in ’23. I still have too many clothes, but I may decide I will treat myself to something special once each quarter.
