The Sun is Out!
It’s not going to be insanely warm at the gardens, but warm enough that she can take a couple of days to check on the bee hives…
So she decides that she’s going to wear pretty pretty pretty colors, and pretend to be one of the flowers…
She dresses somewhat warmly for the trip…
She’s not sure how long she’s going to stay, nor how warm it will be, so she plans to pack an assortment of possibilities…
To start, she makes certain that she has her beige cardigan, shorts, and cropped pants. Her tan skirt is almost the same color, so she adds that…
Then a couple of tee shirts, a cardigan and her favorite floral top…
When she gets to the cottage that night, she looks over her entire travel wardrobe… She feels like it reflects her mood – longing for sun and Vitamin D, and eager to visit the bees!
She really doesn’t have specific chores to do, so she doesn’t need clothes for doing mucky things; she just needs to get dressed every day!
She loves having bees… Especially this time of year, when it’s a brilliant excuse to get out of town for a few days!
We’re having beautiful warm weather here; it put me in the mood for khakis and flower colors!
love,
Janice
p.s. Five years ago, we looked at a business travel wardrobe in grey and pastels. I think February 26th is a pastel day…

It’s a beautiful day in my corner of England too. I was able to go for a walk without a coat on today. We saw our first butterfly of Spring – a bright yellow Brimstone.
The lovely colours in this wardrobe, are easy for me to wear from my own clothes. The delicate jewellery is perfect.

That WATCH is perfection! I suspect it could have been the inspiration.

Oh wow! These are my colours. I love this pretty wardrobe

What beautiful colors to work from in the painting. This wardrobe gives off wonderful spring vibes and I love the way some of the accessories tie into the story.

I love that “look back” wardrobe in the casual version with the green. It’s perfect for me. One specific thing is that the silhouette of the cardigan works with the silhouette of the dress. The warm greys are almost a taupe too, which I think may suit me. Great bag and cute woven flats.

Well she must “bee” in TX. After freezing temps for a solid week, we are back to warm sunny weather. I have seen a few bees but the plants will need heavy pruning or replacing after the frigid cold. Zone 10 plants did not fare well! Lovely painting/inspiration. Thank you once again Janice.

“SHE HITS IT HIGH..HITS IT DEEP…IT IS OUTTA HERE!”
After struggling with the transitional wardrobe, an utterly perfect built-from-scratch capsule is just the right way to end the week. All the light cool beige items work wonderfully together. All the tops work with the beige core. The button up, floral blouse, and core T are lovely with the peach cardigan. I’m not sure what I like most… The little striped scarf with perfect colors (could have been the inspiration)? THAT WATCH, mercy (ditto)? The rose pink pullover that brings a touch of depth to the sherbet palette? OK, it’s gotta be the Rifle Co. floral Keds (heroine tested, bee approved)! Can I have one of each, please?
Seeing these cooler beiges does make me think about our “meadow” transition wardrobe heroine because both the bright blue-red and especially that pale green would work so much better with this cool beige core than the warm camel core. The pale green could be added effortlessly into our bee-loving heroine’s wardrobe…there is even green in the inspiration art. The red is still quite bright and overwhelming against this pastel capsule, but I can imagine it as part of a broader wardrobe that has blue denim jeans, etc., in addition to the light cool beiges.
It makes me wonder if the meadow heroine went too warm when she selected her camel core. I mean, if she has happily worn cool accent colors like blue-red and pale green in the past, and still likes them enough to want to carry them forward into her warmer wardrobe, she probably doesn’t have extremely warm personal coloring. Even if she’s determined that she’s on the warm end, she’s probably still closer to the “neutral” then the far end of warm. I’ve heard that all/almost all beige colors are flattering on people with warm-toned skin because all beiges are warm (just to varying degrees)…I’m not sure quite how true that is, but it does suggest that she might be able to go to “warm-ish” beige instead of very warm camel.
I wonder whether she tried on a variety of beige/camel colors and selected her best one…or did she do that thing where you say “Oh I’m in the X category so I should pick things that are as X as possible!”? (Been there, done that, have donated the t-shirt because as X as possible was NOT the right choice.)

So very pretty!

I love this painting- it’s gorgeous!
Thank you so much for bringing it to my attention as it has so many of my favourite colours in it.
I have a gorgeous yellow handbag that I adore but couldn’t wear without looking unwell.
As much as I admire the wardrobe you’ve created, it’s too warm for my light, cool and muted summer colouring and I’m way too clumsy/messy to wear such easily marked core garments.
I’d personally like to see one based on the cooler colours on the right of the picture using a darker blue neutral.

Hi Janice and Everyone: The pastel colors are very pretty for those who can wear them well. An all-pastel outfit would blah me into the background. My small tweak would be accenting more of the pink and lean more toward apricot/peach.
to Sally in St Paul: like the baseball reference ⚾
