I have a couple of delightful things to share. First up, my dear friend Scottie has created 4 limited-edition scarves which are well worth your attention. Her scarves are unlike anything else in the accessory world, in that they reflect very personal stories and experiences in her life… And they’re beautiful! I’ve seen all four of them “in the silk,” and I can attest that the colors are amazing, and the silk is lustrously soft and supple. You will not be disappointed! This first scarf features a little girl with a hula hoop… And a helicopter. The juxtaposition is striking!
A vintage postcard, and a photograph from the Bataan Memorial Death March at White Sands NM are superimposed on this next scarf. The colors in this are really unusual and appealing, especially the saturated shades of yellow. If you love grey or olive green, this could be a game-changer…
This is a big (BIG!) rectangle, with beautiful touches of mauve and taupe accenting the glorious greens… Leaves are more beautiful than you could ever imagine…
If you love red as much as I do, this is the scarf for you. The varieties of red, shading to coral and pink, are SO beautiful… And when you read the story, and see the full image, it’s even more moving…
And I would be a horrible person if I didn’t let you know that Courtney Carver – the originator of Project 333 and an absolute heroine to those of us who blog about living an organized, simple and low-impact life – has a book coming out the day after Christmas. I’m a tough sell for books – I usually read history, philosophy or other really “geeky” things, so I’m not always madly entertained by books about minimalism and simplicity – they often feel like magazine articles that took steroids! I can assure you that this book is NOT that – Courtney has a lot to share – ideas, thoughts, her personal experiences – and she’s a good story-teller. She kindly shared a galley of this with me, and I’m truly grateful for the gift.
Trust me. Buy, read, learn and enjoy…
hugs all around,
Janice

These are beautiful scarves! I am so tempted before my self-imposed shopping ban starts in January.

Thanks lovely, as always for the shout out xoxoxox

Perhaps you would consider using these scarves as the basis for your scarf wardrobes for 2018?
Janice Riggs says
Tempting, but they're VERY limited editions and will be sold out long before I finish those wardrobes! I don't like to show things that aren't available…
BUT, for 2019, Scottie is going to do a scarf just for us! So we've got that to anticipate…
hugs,
Janice

So excited to hear that! I just love how her scarves have powerful stories behind such beautiful imagery. Truly is wearable art. Can't wait to see what she has in store for us.

I have a soft spot in my heart for Courtney Carver. I've learned so much from her, plus, a shared post from you on her FB page several years back led me to your blog. I've learned so much from you too. One of the most important lessons is to limit the number of colors in a wardrobe! That simplifies things immensely.
Thanks so much for being such an inspiration!

I love scarves and these are really quite unique…look forward to the Vivienne Files original…will you be selling them?
Janice Riggs says
I'll be linking to my friend Scottie, who will be selling them. She only lives about 10 blocks from here, so I'll be with her in spirit! She has a great eye, doesn't she?
hugs,
Janice
