This just feels like cozy autumn clothes, doesn’t it?

The primary neutral in this capsule wardrobe could easily be denim blue, and you could include accents of red or yellow, too…

And ever month or so, in the cooler weather, she puts it in her messenger bag, and she goes downtown for the night, with her sweetheart… Sometimes she feels like she should get something different, but…

He loves olive green. He loves the dress. He loves these special evenings when they go to the theater, or just dinner…

That blue with the olive is so pretty, but the best are the evening outfit (those shoes! that bag! with that dress!) and the next day, which shows how to get away with wearing a column of green.

There is something quite special about the denim blue, olive green combo, and the story is very sweet.

This colour scheme has got me quite excited. I'm hopeless with knowing what colours go with what but I've actually got a lot of olive/denim/cream but had never thought to put my denim shirt with the olive trousers – who knew! (You did Janice, of course). The colours in the scarf are also colours that make mad dashes into my clothes – I love yellow and red. About to go and have a good old rethink about my wardrobe combinations. Thank you x

These colours are just beautiful together.
I'm just in the processes of P333ing my wardrobe, with your help … thank you :-)

I love to see all the different colour combinations and these look lovely together. Unfortunately, olive green looks truly terrible on me, so I no longer have any clothes in this colour. I wonder if the denim would look good with a dark emerald green instead? Sharon, UK.

Olive has gone from being an accent color in my wardrobe to a neutral that combines easily with many other colors. I define the difference between a color being an accent or a neutral based on whether or not I would wear it as pants. Turquoise is one of my all time favorite colors but I will not wear it as pants, a skirt or shorts – therefore I only use it for accent items. (And believe it or not, I consider coats and jackets accent items!) Since I have added olive jeans to my wardrobe I have found that I reach for them all the time. They are so versatile and look great with so many other colors. I love olive with navy, cognac or burgundy for fall/winter. Olive with cream and denim appeals to me because it feels like mixing neutrals which I find very calming.

I love your stories. You inspire me to make the best of what I have and combine things in new ways. The scarves you feature are so beautiful and I love your "start with art" features. Thank you for all of the time and creativity that you share with the world. I haven't commented before but I felt compelled to send you a little "thank you". Please keep them coming.

Yes Lena, I too think olive is wonderful and combines with so many other colors. I have a pair of nice olive jeans I wear all the time and recently decided to buy a dark olive trench-like parka with 2 different zip out linings for different weather. I know it will go with every other color, and probably will be the only coat I really need all year!. Even though these are the only olive items I own so far, I love them combined with everything I own! Thank you, Janice for so much inspiration and it seems you are having a really wonderful vacation as I follow your lovely I stage am photos . Janice Collins, Washington, DC

Now we are cooking! I really appreciate all your previous posts on this theme but this colour scheme appeals to me. I am happy to see a different type of "jean shirt" and this will prompt me to keep looking for one like this. I have a pair of camouflage pants and find I can wear them with almost any colour.

Funnily enough, I am wearing that exact color combination today! – chambray shirt, cream tank, olive jeans. It feels perfect for this time of year, though I wish I had a fabulous scarf like the one pictured!

Love denim with olive. A classic combo. I used to wear more olive, maybe it's time to re-think it as a neutral. It is especially good for Fall. This is such a sweet story too. Love it!!

This is so me… I've been blindly following your colour creations but I always fall back to the denim and olive colours as I'm a redhead and Queensland is too hot to wear dark colours. Any brighter accents you want to throw at this please let us know!
