If I were to advise you, sight unseen, to try an accent color, this would be the one! It’s not TOO bright, it goes well with everything, and it flatters most people. Plus it’s pretty readily available in all kinds of garments and accessories – what’s not to love!
But I struggled to find a “nice enough for you” pair of shoes in this color, so I’m opting to include a clutch bag. When you think about it, a clutch or other small bag in an accent color adds some color to your outfit without being worn near your face, and won’t break the bank. If you want to retire the accent color after a season or two, you just pack your accent pieces away for a few seasons… A clutch, wallet, or cross-body bag isn’t going to go out of style!
Olive is always a challenge to work with (for me!), but I think that these balanced out nicely…
Silver and turquoise jewelry feels just right here…
The intensity of these two colors is very similar, and they’re somewhat opposite of each other on the color wheel – two factors that help them work really well together!
Mixed shades of blue always appeal to me:
I love turquoise with brown! And if you haven’t taken a closer look at this scarf, I encourage you to do so – it’s just amazing… Completely not my colors, but if I wore brown, I’d be painfully tempted…
When I chose pieces to show with black, I considered if I would wear the item in question. I own these 3 pieces in black, as well as the black boots, so the black ensembles are always my very personal favorites. While I don’t own any turquoise, seeing all of this together could turn my head! (especially that scarf… I LOVE scarves…)

Wow- I love turquoise as a colour but had never thought of it as an all round performer before. A lot of nice scarves also but the bottom one is especially gorgeous.

I love every one of these.
I would think it's possible IRL to find turquoise ballerinas, moccasins or Converse, though you might not find them in an online search at a given moment. Some things depend on being at the right place at the right time.

I love turquoise as it is one of the few bright colors that suit me well. Never paired it with olive, but I there maybe a scarf hiding somewhere that has both colors in it. I sometimes wear head to toe grey with turquoise jewelry and scarf and feel pretty chic.

Really like both olive and turquoise but not so sure about combined. Will give it a go in real life later but I somehow doubt that one will be for me.
As always love the navy combination.

Oh. This is my all time favorite color! So many great accessories here! I've bookmarked this page to get at least one of these scarves. I think the turquoise with olive is beautiful. For my birthday this month, My husband gave me a lovely turquoise faux-swede jacket I wore last night to a concert (pretty!) and my late husband once bought me an aqua/turquoise-colored car! I've decorated my tiny office nook with this color in a slightly lighter shade. I really think this color is beautiful with everything and flatters everyone! Janice Collins, Washington, DC

Turquoise always seems like a joyful colour to me. I am drawn to it in jewellery especially. I usually wear it in the summer but should think about it on a rainy day in November.

I love this! Turquoise is one of my accent colors and this is really opening my eyes to new possible neutrals for future capsules. Thanks for your inspirational blog Janice!

Turquoise is my birthstone so I have been given lots of jewellery over the years by family members and I love it. There's nothing nicer than wearing my favourite pieces in the summer with other silver or white gold jewellery, a fresh white linen blouse or t-shirt/vest top and denims. I also like the Turquoise with Navy and Grey combos the best. Sharon, UK.

FYI: I downloaded a Kindle book, "Fashion Capsule Wardrobe Essentials: Stylish Work Kindle Edition
by Kym Hausmann", which is surprising similar to your "4×4 Wardrobe". The author uses many of the same terms and concepts, including getting color inspiration from art and scarves. Thought you might like to know in case this is an infringement.

Hmm, let me take a look. I'm not sure what to do if it IS infringement; any lawyers here?

Ooooh that color…the same as the beautiful Jennifer Hamley laptop/handbag I want to buy but should probably be getting in black instead because I can only purchase one. The fates seem to be testing me! It's harder to choose than I ever thought it would be :( A core color makes the most sense and is so practical. But how often do you find the perfect bag in your favorite accent color? I'm waiting for a sale, so I don't have to decide right this moment, but still.
Janice Riggs says
Mmmm…. take the plunge! That bag is beautiful, and will last you a lifetime. And in a gorgeous accent, you'll never get tired of it. (I can't believe I'm NOT telling you to buy a black bag…)

Can you believe they are having a Flash Sale today – 60% off very slight seconds?! Of course both colors I want are already sold out. My heart is heavy with disappointment. Aubergine, Salamander and Chocolate colors are still available until October 4th (or until they sell out).

For some reason I always think this color is for Spring and Summer. It certainly would brighten up a gray winter day!! I don't know if I could pull off the olive combo but it is something to think about!

For me, the turquoise+olive was the hardest test but I think you pulled it off nicely. And oh those scarves … blissss. Including the 'Trash'! Aren't designers amazing?

Dark turquoise and olive work really well together. This post pretty much nails my main wardrobe colors right now. That said, I may need that brown scarf…

:-) I love turquoise.
Don't have too much, but I just did a post where I show how I wear it
http://happyface313.com/2016/09/30/neu-neu-neu-u30blogger-friends/
combining it easy-peasy with black.
Have a wonderful weekend :-)
