She was born in February, so amethyst is her birthstone. And purple has always been her favorite color; could any style choice be easier?
Any other suggestions/ideas for how to accessorize this wardrobe? I’m working on blue, and on brights, but I was also thinking of brown/gold… Anything else your beautiful hearts desire?
love,
Janice

Beautiful! I love grey and purple together, but this black wardrobe looks so sleek. Thanks for the inspiration.

I like to warm up my black with camel, winter whites, and/or gold. Remember that Hermes scarf that featured those colors with a bit of light blue mixed in.. I would love to see what you could come up with. Thanks.

Cornelia – do you remember what date I used that scarf? I'd love to work with it.
thanks,
Janice

It's the one I purchased in Dec. 2013 from this site.

I'm wondering what you'd do with the color of the year–marsala. It's got just enough brown to warm up a stark black wardrobe, I think.
frugalscholar says
How about garnet for January? (Might be close to marsala as requested above???)
Doré Way says
Please do a series with Pantone's colour of the year "Marsala" http://www.pantone.com/pages/index.aspx?pg=21167
Thank you, Janice!

How about Amber

Marsala please, and also a brown/black grouping. I love amethyst, which I like to pair with gray or navy. So, when you're done with the black series….. Mary

Such a beautiful selection! The accessory grouping here truly made something start singing in me. What joy!
As for request… I'll second the comment just before mine about amethyst and grey (I'd be curious if a "cold amethyst"–with silver instead of gold–would speak to me as clearly as what you did here, knowing that I generally incline towards whiter metals and colder neutrals…)

I'd love to see an "ombre" range of light to dark blue within the accessory group – like the bright winter sky after a snowstorm has cleared. Another vote for marsala/wine, using rose gold as the metal – as both manage to seem simultaneously warm and cool. Finally, a supportive vote for cognac brown, maybe with copper accessories? Gosh, the inspiration is really flowing now… raspberry pink? emerald green? I'll stop!

I tried to reply to Cornelia above, but don't see my comment Perhaps it has to be approved first? Anyway she was possibly referring to my scarf, which Janice styled on 7/12/12

I already accent black with shots of blues, of all hues and tones, but am looking forward to see what you do with it, Janice. Always looking for new ideas! Thanks!

Well, what would help me is incorporating *my* colors – olive, mustard, plum, rusty orange/cognac, charcoal grey, etc (autumn here) into the black wardrobe since I purchased a small quantity of good quality black items when I thought that – at my age – I was suddenly suppose to wear black. Like age works like that… ?

You have touched my heart with purple and Amethyst. Please try with Marsala. All the best, Maja

Is anyone thinking of the people of France and those who have lost their lives defending free speech?

Ooh, lovely purple bits there. I'm a big fan of purple but I don't have that much of it in my wardrobe. I do find it quite tricky to get the right shade for me – not too lavendar/ lilac, not too brownish/reddish. I like a good strong but bright purple – I've got it in a great wool skirt that I've worn to bits.
