I’m in very deep water here…
I have absolutely nothing to say here today except Thank You.
Thank You for reading The Vivienne Files.
Thank You for commenting.
Thank You for sending me email suggestions, ideas, and criticisms.
Thank You for getting in touch with me when you’re going to be in Chicago, so we can get together.
The Vivienne Files is my full-time work. It’s a labor of love, feminism, environmentalism, and the joy of color, beauty, and feeling confident every day.
All this work would be wasted without you. And I know it.
Love, really, from my heart,
Janice
You have changed my life. You are an inspiration and a voice that speaks of many ways to enhance the beauty of my everyday life. Big hugs! Karen
Thank you so much for this blog and all of your work and commitment. Such a plsure to find you in my mailbox!
I have spent many hours with you without having a conversation! Congratulations on your milestone!
Congratulations on your 1,000th post! It's a major milestone, and represents more dedication, long hours, and eye strain than I think any of us can fully appreciate. Thank you for your commitment to giving us all a daily dose of beauty, a spark of inspiration, and occasionally an entirely new way of looking at the world. Looking forward to the next thousand posts!
Congratulations and thank you so much for sharing your gifts with all of us. Know that it is appreciated by so many of us. And, how marvelous to be doing your heart's work. Hope to catch up in Chicago at some point. <3. Susan (in Minneapolis)
Congratulations and thank you! Your blog is the first site I open each day (even when I know it's a day off!), and I continuously mine your archive for fresh perspectives. I'm not quite "there" yet – I'm not sure I'll ever be a true minimalist – but my wardrobe is slowly becoming more "me". Here's to another 1000!!!
Congratulations Janice! You do such an awesome job…you have much to be proud of! Keep up the great work.
Just simply THANK YOU for your wonderful blog!
Congratulations! I cants say enough good things about your work here. I am continually inspired. Here's to many many more posts!
Thank you for your work! Reading your blog regularly has given me so many ideas about dressing well with fewer pieces. You are part of my early morning routine. I hope that you write 1,000 more.
Congratulations, Janice! You continue to inspire.
Congratulations and thank YOU. Over the years this place has given me respite from some very difficult times, inspiration for looking good and feeling better, and a daily dose of beauty. May all the goodness you've put into the world come back to you tenfold.
Thank you for all you do! :)
Your blog has changed my life for the better, in so many ways. Merci for your labor of love.
Congratulations! Question: You say The Vivienne Files is your full-time work. Do you mean that literally, as in it is the way your earn your living? Or do you mean in the sense that it is fulfilling, your passion, your creative outlet? (I've been reading your archives and you are "currently" working in a bakery, so I'm curious about how your employment has evolved since then.)
I just cannot say how valuable I have found your blog to be in my wardrobe life. I'm sitting here in my living room on a lovely summer day wearing a crisp cotton skirt and a simple cotton knit tee, but the skirt is lined and well-constructed (Boden) and the tee has a V-neck and is in a shade I probably wouldn't have paired with the skirt before absorbing your color knowledge and sense. I look pretty, though I say it myself, and yet I am utterly comfortable. I have YOU to thank for that!

Well, I don't have any other employment than The Vivienne Files. It works out really well right now, because we have a few older relatives with health issues, and my work flexibility makes caring for them much easier. But no, I don't really earn anything that could qualify as a living. I get some money from Google, in exchange for the ads that appear on the blog, I earn small commissions on some of the links that I have to specific items (but that's not the criteria by which I choose items, believe me!), and of course I earn some money from the wardrobe and color documents. But The Vivienne Files couldn't survive without the support of Belovedest, and of you all, of course!
Dear Janice, your thanks are typically gracious, but I would say the thanks are ours to you. You really have changed the perspectives in so many lives. Certainly mine. I have a simplified wardrobe, suitable for my life, and a sense of values I hadn't truly embraced before. May we enjoy 1,000 more posts!
Big thankful hugs,
Swissy

Hi, Janice! Susan S. here, still logging in as "Anonymous". Many congratulations on this milestone! I love reading your columns and find them incredibly helpful. You have such excellent taste and are an inspiration for me and obviously many others. As to Chicago, my husband and I were there at the end of June, and I was actually thinking of contacting you to see if we could get together (spot you to beignets at Grand Lux Café?) but I was concerned it would be intrusive. Now I know better. Thank you again for your wonderful column. I look forward to reading it every day. Here's to at least 1,000 more! Warmest regards, Susan
Congratulations! This is obviously a labour of great love. You are inspiring! R&G
Congratulations! I so appreciate your insight and the time you take to help those of us that are fashion challenged.
Believe us when we say, it has been simply a pleasure to read this blog.
You've taken me from clueless to focussed: I now have a very clear idea of the direction my wardrobe will be taking, and even how to try out one or two accent colours.
I can honestly say, I no longer watch french films in quite the same way: I warch what the women are wearing, and see all your principles winking back at me!
Congrats on your anniversaire!

Congratulations. I rarely comment, yet never miss a post.
Your work is invaluable, thank you.
Synergy is the best! Your labour and skill makes you happy and makes us happy. That is the best combination. THANK YOU for having the gumption to take the leap and make this your job to help us be the best we can be on many levels.

1000 posts of free work, love and inspiration. We are understand how much your personal time is spent create real art and how we are presented each day.Thank you for it!!!
Congratulations from a long-time follower! 1,000 posts! Wonderful!!! I remember your earliest posts with great fondness — I knew I'd stumbled on a fresh take on style.
I look at the world of color completely differently since beginning to read your blog. But also, in a sea of blogs that encourage unconscious consumption, yours rises above with its innovative POV driven by environmental sustainability and a feminist vision of people choosing beauty wisely, carefully, and ethically, rather than being slaves to corporate dictates to buy buy buy that are burning the world to a crisp. You are an inspiration. Keep up the wonderful work! You are appreciated by so many.
I rarely comment on any blog, but I must say ditto for me to all of the above. I have been a regular follower for a long time and you have given me much enjoyment and inspiration. I am using your wonderful work in the Starting from Scratch posts, even as I write today, to plan and shop for my fall/winter wardrobe and I know I will use it often in the years to come. It is the epitome of careful thought, planning and generosity on your part. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Nan
Congratulations, Janice! I love this blog so much. And for so many reasons. Here's to a 1000 more!

Congratulations on your landmark post. And thank you, right back at ya. :)
1.000 Blogs. How many years of devotion was that ? Congratulations, will you continue and what have been your feelings along the way ? I guess the most gratifying part is to have the feed back from your loyal readers. Congratulations again and on with the next 1.000.
Best,
Swan – Now Living in France
Congratulations! We are so blessed to have your voice and outlook available to us! Here's to many many more inspiring and stylish posts! <3
Yay, Janice! We lived in Chicago for over 10 years, and still love it dearly…hoping to be able to have a "Janice" visit at some point soon, with my chic, minimalist wardrobe all fitting in a carry on bag :-).
I have also noticed that the blog is popular all around the world: USA, France, Australia…. Best wishes from Lithuania!
Congratulations and thank you for everything. :)
And I've poured over them all! Couldn't imagine getting dressed now without you, Janice. Thanks for the beauty and the bounty!
I just found your blog a few days ago, when I was fretting about what to wear on a long book tour. I still own Looks that Work and Working Wardrobe, and your blog reminds me of them, only updated. Thanks for the pleasant company.
Thank YOU! Because of your blog I've started cleaning up my clothing life (and feel fantastic about getting rid of all this "stuff"!!). And just in time too: I'm traveling 60% of the time and have never been in more need of a "uniform". Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Congratulations and thank you for everything you do. I have come to look at my clothing and myself differently since discovering your blog a few years back. I have revived my interest in how I look, fashion and style after having lost it along the way somewhere.
Thank you Janice. You have changed the way I buy, dress and even think about clothes. Following your advice I now have a wardrobe were everything mixes & matches. It is easy to dress in the morninig. You are a genius. Maryann
I echo all of the above. Your advise and vision rises above all others. You have literally changed my wardrobe, shopping style and prospective. I often get compliments on my looks, all due to you, and I have shared your blog with a select few who are ready to see the wisdom you impart. Can't thank you enough.
I love your blog and read it daily! You have inspired me to look at my clothes in a new light and I am slowing building a wardrobe based on neutrals and accent colours. I'm also looking more carefully at the way I accessorize my outfits with jewellery and a growing collection of scarves…all because of you! Congratulations on your 1000th post and many thanks for all that you do! You are brilliant! – Helen
1,000 blog posts! Wow Janice, that really is a labour of love. Please continue to inspire us :)
Congratulations! I love your blog and appreciate what you do more than I can say! Thank you!!!
Congratulations and sincere thanks again and again for sharing your warmth, your wisdom, and your wit with all of us. I waltz through my life just a bit more elegantly for it.

Congratulations Janice! I have learned so much from you. I recommend your blog to friends all the time.
You are an amazing woman! Thank you for all you do. Love your ideas, words and the thoughtfulness you put into each post. We are blessed by YOU!
Congratulations on your 1,000 post Here's hoping you find inspiration for another 1,000. Cheers!
Janice, you are a blessing and I appreciate the time and care and quality you put into this site. You make me think and then make better choices. We are both lovers of beauty. Thank you Janice.
Congratulations Janice! Heartfelt thanks for your endlessly inspiring work!
Dear Janice, we are the ones who should be thanking YOU! As a novice blogger (just over 250 posts) I am constantly inspired by your posts and occasionally pinch your brilliant ideas (with acknowledgements, of course). When I started out on my journey my wardrobe was a rainbow of colours – many of which didn't do me any favours -but now it's more streamlined, versatile and flattering and it's down to your good influence. I'm looking forward to the next 1,000 posts!

Thank YOU Janice, for all that YOU do!
Congratulations! Belated, I know (shame on me). Your work is wonderful. We readers should thank you – so, thank you, Janice! :-)
I have a question for you: why can we not subscribe to your posts by email? I would like that possibility becaue I am not into social media platforms.
Have a lovely and relaxing summer!
Greetings from Germany,
WR
I do have that capability – I just moved the sign-up box all the way to the top of the right hand column – above the picture of me! Thanks for asking – I'm really happy to make that opportunity more visible for you.
warmest regards,
Janice
I love your blog. Its the only one I check every day. Thank you for all the great ideas about different ways to put things together. Congratulations on your 1000th post. I hope you are still posting for a long time to come.
Dear Janice- not only have you provided me with much-needed inspiration clothes-wise, but I have had enormous fun 'chasing down' the accessories you feature. I especially love those made by people/women who are not mainstream retailers but artisans. How wonderful it is that, via the 'net, someone (ME!) from Australia can buy beautiful, unique jewellery from anywhere the world and have it arrive at my home in no time at all !! Talk about expanding your horizons…… :-)
Reading your posts is a special, delightful, wonderful part of my day. Happy Anniversary!
Janice–I've been waking up to you for so long now, that I can truly say that I consider you to be a dear friend, even though we've never met. Thanks for all that you do! You are an important part of my life.
Better late than never, Congratulations! I have read and enjoyed each of your blogs. They are wonderful. You are amazing and I hope you will be here for 1000 more. I know I will.
