Sometime very soon I’m going to HAVE to do a capsule wardrobe based on mallards or some other duck that shows this color in a natural palette. I’m beginning to believe that I can’t go wrong looking at nature for ideas. In the meantime, this is a great color to transition into the end of summer/hot days of early autumn. As much as we’d all like to start wearing fall clothing the first day of September, it’s sort of insane to really consider it (at least in Chicago) until the last week of the month. A color like this at least lets you FEEL a little bit autumn-ish!These earrings are silk, and the bracelet is leather – what WILL they think of next?
I started here with the black and caramel Starting From Scratch Wardrobe.
This shows the teal added to the khaki and olive Starting From Scratch Wardrobe.
Additional garments here are part of the navy and grey Starting From Scratch Wardrobe.

Love this teal Janice! It's probably my favorite color and I wear it a lot. However, I just can't wrap my brain around teal and olive together. Or teal and any warm color. Thanks for all the work you put into these posts. I'm looking forward to your completed color combo pdf.

Yay, the mallards! I've got a beautiful blue-tit outside my window at the moment. That would make a bold colour combo with yellow and blue!
That teal top could have a bit more going on with it for me to feel comfortable wearing it with plain bottoms, but I do like the colours and the accessories.

Loving the teal. These common colors are some of my favorites to wear with neutrals. Your pidgeon color scheme was brilliant – a mallard would be fabulous. As you say, you can't go wrong with nature. Since you've said to let you know if links don't work, I believe the descriptions/links of the navy/grey are actually for the black/grey clothes. Thank you for your great work.

These last 3 posts with the common colors have been so interesting. Well, all your posts are but these especially have been eye-opening! I would never wear olive but I have really liked the common color pairings with the olive. I also clicked immediately on the bracelet. Love it!

Gosh teal is a beautiful colour and really adds to the other colours it is paired with. Do you know my mother has an outspoken dislike of teal and as a result I've never worn it. I plan to try a piece now as I think it will be good with my coloring. I agree with nature shades too. Some are quite unexpected yet spectacular.

Daddy was color blind, but he had great color sense. He always said if you saw a color combination in nature, then you could use it in your house or in your clothes. Teal is a wonderful color, it goes with so many other colors, my personal being a deep smoky gray.

Hello Janice, thanks very much for your work. I can honestly say that I've stuck to your blog for the last three days. After spending some time through my clothes, it seems my closet is based on black, navy, camel and grey and not so many accent colors. I have enough clothes for two color charts, (black/camel, and navy/grey) However, I have also I can't make most of my wardrobe since I don't have many appropriate shoes.. The problemwith the navy shoes are..ehhm. you know, they are not so easy to find.. Could you inspire some ideas combining navy/ camel or navy/grey garments with black shoes pleae?

If you’re still up for a mallard-themed capsule, I’d love to see one! I’ve been toying with this idea for my autumn wardrobe, since I have some stray deep green pieces (which I actually love) but also a lot of brown and I fear I’ll look like a tree… but if a mallard can pull it off so can I, right? ;-P

Hi there,
I’ve been trying to find the perfect year round capsule wardrobe in blush pink, grey, navy, (And burgundy and very pastelly turquoise if at all or even browns/nude/neutrals/copper if we NEED 5ish colours) to stay within my light spring colour palette.
I can’t find anything that meets my business casual needs.
Do you have anything in that area or would you be up for a challenge??
HELP!!!
Thank you so much, I follow you like the bible and LOVE LOVE LOVE your work, especially the art themed wardrobes, what an incredible skill for style, artistic details and nature all in one!!
Very tight hugs,
Lise
