You are now officially my style icon. This is gorgeous. We call this brown tone 'cognac' in Germany, and I remember when I first saw it paired with black in a store window. It is still one of my all time favourites.

The rich textures and gorgeous honeyed chestnut (or cognac)browns make these combinations stunning, Janice. I can see it all with amber jewelry.

Thank you for reminding me that I can wear my browns and blacks together. This realization will make packing for a September trip to London much easier! Great combinations here!

You are a genius and this, like all your capsules, is divine! And please, help those of us who live in tropical climates add that panache to our work wardrobes. I'm envious of colder climate dwellers: everyone looks chic in a chunky sweater and boots. Please, we who sweat and strive for the same level of professionalism and panache need guidance. Thanks Janice!

Very nice! When I saw the headline I was wondering how this would work out (well, perfectly of course!) – and the brown is a fabulous color!

Ooh! I really really love this. Suddenly I wish it was autumn already (just for a second, but still…).

Hi, I will try once again…I hope my comment will be published.
Your blog is so unique and wonderful…a great reference…who would have thought brown and black could be so chic.
Looking through your archives for help in putting together a teal, J.Crew pencil skirt, but no luck…can you help or direct me?
Thank you.
