There was one more color combination waiting to be addressed in the beautiful Hermes Pique Fleuri de Provence – Turquoise and Hot Pink. And that got me thinking that these three accent colors (don’t forget Orange), on a base of black and white neutrals, would be a perfect wardrobe scheme for… well, for everything, forever. I see the symbol for this wardrobe like this:
And with this as your focal point, you can just combine garments and make purchases with confidence…
So one last trip, with the Hermes scarf as the initial inspiration:
Piqué Fleuri de Provence silk scarf – Hermes, silk “Neon Love” scarf – Marc Andersen
Shirt – J. Crew, jacket –Faberge & Roches, earrings- Jamie Joseph, watch – Michael Kors, white linen pants – Nicole Farhi, loafers – AK Anne Klein, white tote- Longchamp, orange tote – Bodhi, carry-on
bag – Lipault Paris

And, that mrs. Calabash, is my summer wardrobe. The orange just doesn't ring my bell, so i will throw in a bit of celedon instead, and buy the Marc Anderson scarf … andsee you in September! Have a good summer.

I love this combo, but am trying to convert it to navy/white/red/green/purple or navy/white/teal/coral/purple ("medium slate blue"). Thank you again for the pleasure this blog brings to my day.

I adore that provence flower scarf! I was thinking about getting a paler color but now am thinking I should get a bright one…lovely capsule outfits

I have tried to imagine myself wearing any of these, and the closest I could come was the dress with the cardigan. I have no problem with any of the colors, but I can't see myself wearing all three. My favorite this season has been the "Whatever's Clean" capsule: lovely, peaceful neutrals in lighter shades. That's what makes you unique. You can cover the spectrum of tastes and please everyone sooner or later!

THESE are the colors that I glow in…the colors that always garner compliments when I wear them. So one would THINK "wear them!". Alas, it is seldom that I do. Love this post though! xo H

Wow, you just pictured a strikingly similar capsule wardrobe to the one that I've been accidentally putting together with the goal of "happy summer colors." They give me a placebo effect of feeling "cooler" in the desert Southwest–especially when in light silk. At first wearing the turquoise with orange or coral and the orange with pink was outside my comfort zone, but now I am loving it. I had spent the last decade in browns, taupes, creams, and basic black. I feel as if I've broken out of the black and white scenes in Pleasntville and into the color ones. And surprisingly, these colors end up having a neutral feel as one is matching the pieces–once you "own" the colors and have fun. I love the way you put everything together.

My best colors are the warm neutrals with accents of muted teal and peach. I usually wear either the teal or the peach with the neutrals, but your post has inspired me to try the two accents together! My "yellow" would probably be a muted gold, opening up even more possibilities. Your posts are always inspiring. Thank you!!

Oops… meant to write "orange" not yellow!

I'm catching up to your posts because I've been out of pocket for a few weeks; this is a lovely bunch of clothes here…I so love the fresh, summery turquoise which I'd always been told looks good on almost any woman regardless of age, complexion, shape, etc.
By the way, that article on the French apartment was just amazing. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. Can't imagine what it must have felt like to walk in there the first time, whomever that person was…gotta go back and read it again; wow, just WOW.

The Pink & Turquoise are my colours and I have wondered about wearing them together but just not sure of the ratio. Thank you for the visual combos.
What would that capsule wardrobe look like for winter (I'm in the southern hemisphere, in a mild winter region)? Would I just replace some of the white with black or navy?
This has really got me thinking & excited as I don't like seeing all black during the winter – I think it is very depressing, especially on me!

These are basically my wardrobe colors — fuschia/orange and turquoise/emerald, with black and gray as neutrals. (Inspired by your blog, actually! I trimmed my wardrobe to about 50 pieces, have a list of the specific types of pieces I want to add, and am doing that slowly.) I think they're wonderful colors for someone with dark hair and pale skin, and I love the pieces you chose here.
