Again, beautiful! I love number two especially — the black dress with the beautiful accessories is just stunning! I am continually amazed by the versatility of so few pieces. Susan (Mpls)
When I'm home, I wear pajamas. Short ones, from Brooks Brothers, in loud prints, or silly girl patterns. Or gym clothes – yoga pants and tee shirts. Those, you will NEVER see…
I am curious. How did you pick the 33 garments? I will be confined to my house due to a medical condition for a great deal of this summer and might try the 333 challenge. I know that is cheating with limited forays outside my home. But it would be interesting. However, I don't know what should be the basis for my choices. Any ideas?
I started with a core of the essential black things that I wear a lot – the 2 dresses, a couple of pants, tops etc. Then I fleshed it out with my 2 favorite cardigans – the dotted and the argyle. A few brightly colored things, and a few light colored neutrals. Really, I just started with the summer clothes that I wear the most, and took the 33 top candidates!
That's less complicated than I thought. I gravitate toward the same neutral capri's and pants with a few T's. Keeping in mind that I won't be traveling till fall, this will be a good practice. And it will be a nice project to keep me busy.
Hi Janice: This is incredible — a total inspiration. I was wondering if you could make a label for project 333 so I can link to the original post with the basic clothing items (I'm wondering where you got those palazzo pants). Thanks again for helping us see how to do a great closet edit, and how beautiful simplification can be!
Iknew it was working on Monday when i bought a scarf that will work with my gray/turquoise, my navy/turquoise, and black/gray/turquoise existing pieces. was not temprted by anything that won't work with what i have for all four seasons. Thanks!!
Beautiful! I have just spent a delightful half hour scanning your site to see if I can find the name of the Hermes (at least I think it's Hermes) scarf in the top left corner of the second photo from the top. I love the grey color-way. Can you tell me the name of the design? Thanks so much!
The scarf on the top left is Voyages en Moscou, and the one below it is Offrands d'un Jour. The Voyages scarf was released about 4 years ago, and is still available from time to time on the secondary market.
Wonderful!! Love your combinations! I also love that you show lots of combinations with pants and low heel shoes. (I rarely wear dresses and don't own any heels!LOL) THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!
Fabulous as usual!! A quick question – I am looking for the "perfect" hat. I love the size and shape of the red one you show. Can you share the name of the maker? Thanks!
The hat shown is from Kokin, but the red hat that I own was actually purchased at a garden center! (Belovedest spotted it across the room, and zeroed in on it immediately…) Hats are funny – you just have to try them on until (a) you get used to seeing yourself in hats, and (b) you find just the right one. Sometimes it's the most expensive one (of course), but often it's a very affordable hat found in the most unlikely place!
Such an inspiration. Have spent some of the weekend moving in the direction of 333. It is going to take me a while to get there. But, great closet purge and trip to the Goodwill. Your posts are always so wonderful! Susan

I was going to comment on the dress also! Is it available somewhere? Looks like what I've been wishing for.
