Yes, I’ll be in New York for about 24 hours – I’m flying in, having dinner, sleeping (I hope), and then running literally TWO errands the next morning, and flying back. Because I’m going to be racing about with very little “down time”, I’ve determined that I don’t want to pack more than I’m prepared to carry with me at all times…To the rescue – the Tumi bag that I’ve been carrying for almost 10 years as a brief case. It was originally a diaper bag, but it’s logged more miles as an all-purpose bag than I can remember. I’ve determined that I’m NOT going to wear my usual argyle cardigan – switching from black & white stripes to grey with Hermes will give me at least a different feeling on the 2nd day. Clothing, pajamas, and a scarf will go into a big zip-lock bag, toiletries already live in the bag all the time. A book, a few tunes, wallet and ID in my cross-body bag, and I’m ready for an exhilarating and exhausting jaunt!

Perfect! And with a second scarf, shawl, or necklace and a dressy top in the bag, this could really work for a whole weekend.

Don't forget a pashmina for the air conditioned blasts of cold air!
Looks fabulous and I do hope that you can sleep in those elegant pj's.

well done! i too have a black nylon tote that used to be a diaper bag and is now repurposed as my go to carry on – it's a great looking structured bag and no one's the wiser. my laptop fits in it perfectly and with all the bottle and diaper pockets tucked inside, it's great for organizing *my* grown-up accessories and toys! enjoy your time in my beloved nyc, however short it may be.

This is a great capsul. Bravo! Love, love the post over at A Femme. Just bought a fabulous, simple coral dress that will travel very well. Am using your inspiration for conference to cocktails (in the UK) in two weeks. Thank you, again. Susan (Minneapolis)

Do you really need pjs? And check the weather- according to forecast you might not need a big scarf, just a pochette. Bon voyage!

This inspired me to pack light this weekend. I still brought a suitcase but it was noticeably lighter than usual. Thank you!

Found your blog via a post on TripAdvisor's Paris Forum. Absolutely love your inspiring take on wardrobes! Any chance that you would put together a packing list for a 4 day trip to Paris in early October? Celebrating 50th birthday there courtesy of wonderful husband. No skirts or dresses, though. Many thanks!
