Monochromatic dressing seems to be an idea that meets a lot of resistance, and I’m not sure why; it’s the easiest way to dress, and it can look very elegant and sleek. I think the key to keeping monochromatic outfits from looking drab is to incorporate texture or pattern into the mix to give a little bit of visual interest. With accessories this cool, no outfit is going to look dull!
This woman has grey hair, silvery eyes, a cutting wit, and a very busy agenda – if you make the mistake of thinking of her as “senior citizen”, it will be a mistake you only make once!

This is stunning. I love the monochromatic look so much that I try to go for it every time something important is going on at the office. Depositions today… I might just go for it. Thanks. :))

I like monochrome, but always thought same colour accesories was neglecting the chance for a fresh pop of colour. Still, these accessories are gorgeous!

Differences of texture show so well in gray…all that subtlety would be totally lost in black or in a brighter color.

I agree, suddenly you are drawn to the textures and soft patterns – it would be even more interesting in real life. The trouble with computer viewing is that its difficult to portray fine differences in texture.
More of these tone on tone wardrobes please! – perhaps with my favourite, a slightly warmer donkey grey

And textures also look even better in movement.

I really struggle with tones in grey. This is a lovely even tone, but I find it very hard to replicate in real life. Got any hints?

Carry things with you that you want to match, when you go shopping. And move around in a store to make certain that you’re seeing garments in a range of different lights! If you find a grey that you really like, consider getting a few pieces from the same designer/company. It seems logical that those things should work well together!

Let me tell you, chère, you will meet absolutely no resistance from me on the monotone look you've created. This is, for me, the ultimate chic, elegant way to dress. I love, love, love it. I'm sure some would think I'm boring, but c'est la vie, n'est-de pas? Absolutely stunning and without shopping I can pull this off in many ways with what's in my closet. (I can also do this with navy and black although even I admit black on black on black might be a bit austere — maybe a little grey would help. . .)xo, Tish

I totally get this! It is especially good for a woman with a powerful personality/attitude. The monochromatic scheme "cools down" the energy and allows the person to shine without overwhelming. This is probably really vital for a powerful woman in a male dominated workforce. I also imagine this person has a great colour lipstick.

This is really nice. Grey has become my favourite neutral, as black can be somewhat harsh at times.

So elegant, so chic. I love this way of dressing!

Ooh nice! The tailoring and the textured accessories really bring an edge to these looks. Love it!
(Thinks to self… maybe I need more grey clothes…)

Perfect! I'm in all grey right now : )

I suppose I tend to think of monochromatic dressing as more of a statement than an everyday thing, and even on the rare occasion that I do dress in a monochromatic scheme, I wear various shades. I tend to find all one color and shade rather overbearing to wear, even if it is a "neutral". I can appreciate the simple beauty of the idea and perhaps even find it pretty on another person, but I don't think I would feel very me in such an ensemble.

I like this.

May I ask how you create your visuals for your posts? I'm creating a capsule/french wardrobe, but I get stuck in a rut wearing the same outfits. I'd like to create a visual checklist, similar to how you show the many options for your wardrobes. Thanks!

I love monochromatic dressing – perhaps it is because I am short. In fact I wore all gray today: a pencil skirt and surplice sweater under a hooded blazer with gunmetal jewelry. I agree with Tish, very chic and elegant.
