We’ve only had a few days of warm weather (and it might snow tonight!), but I saw a ton of striped tops over this weekend, styled in all sorts of different ways…

Yes, a gorgeous photograph! I love the new heading. I've gotten pretty tired, on the other hand, of striped tees (which I've started to think of as The Jailhouse Rock Look). I do acknowledge, however, that this is in large part sour grapes, since for me to get away with wearing bold horizontal stripes would require a body transplant.

I was pondering as I worked on this – these shirts are both classic and trendy! Such a thing is always hard to reconcile…

There's no denying that such striped tees give an instant French mariner/springtime vibe–at least to the slim–and take almost no thought to style. Bring on your bold espadrilles and cardigan and you're good to go. There's freedom in that.

"These shirts are both classic and trendy!" If I remember correctly, more than 40 years ago I bought a navy and white striped sailor shirt like this from L.L. Bean . (Wore it for several years and never got tired of it.)

Those Bella Vita espadrilles have my name written all over them. I picked up a striped top at JCP (Liz Claiborne Ottoman Peplum Top) that is so perfect for me that I bought it in every color (and wish it came in more!). Now to tone my upper arms …

Great new look for the blog!
And I'd wear all the outfits above in a twinkling (if I could find white jeans that didn't make me look like an orca with legs).

I'm really not a big fan of stripes… What to replace this kind of tee with? Could you create a basic wardrobe for spring with no stipes but that has some nice colors? Thanks!
