500 posts! Félicitations! I honestly do not know how you remain to stay so creative, day in and day out, but you have inspired me (and many others) to try new color/style combinations. Since I like to be comfortable, rarely wear skirts or dresses and have caught the flu this week, "arrangements" #1 and #5 are my favorites today. Merci et bon weekend. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
Congrats on 500! Although late to the party, I have enjoyed most of them through the archives. You are so inspiring. I keep referring back to your navy/grey 333 as I plan my winter wardrobe. I also have a "core of four/crazy eights" in black, and I'm not sure how to work that in. I haven't seen any capsules that revolve around three neutrals. The grey would work with both, of course, but I don't care for black and dark navy together. Having three 8-piece neutral capsules would leave me nine slots for accent color pieces. I'm just not sure how that would work.
Congratulations, and you have done well with your project 33. Isn't that the scarf you purchased on your recent trip? It looks loveley paired with grey.
Congratulations on your 500th post! Love it! Love your choice of items! I should print them out and stick them in my wardrobe for next week…who knows, maybe I will ;-) Did I read correctly in the earring part – are you 50? That would be same age as me :-) Have a very HAPPY weekend and all the best from Vienna :-)
Congratulations on 500!!! I don't comment often, but absolutely LOVE your posts! You have given me great inspiration and ideas for my wardrobe. I'm looking forward to spending A LOT LESS on clothes in 2013!
500 Posts WOW! Love ro see how you wear your actual wardrobe. Keep this series up please. Would love to know how you tied your beautiful new scarf from Paris you wore to tea this week. Such an inspiration you are!
Congrats on your 500th! I found your blog last month and now plan to read them through from the beginning. You've already changed my shopping habits. Last month I went in with a plan and bought only from that plan. It felt so powerful.
Janice, you really have achieved a lot for a lot of us! I've been with you from the beginning and I can honestly say you've given me a whole new attitude about how I dress and how I feel. I've said it a number of times, but here it is again: Thanks and warm hugs–
That is a Levi's Made & Crafted sweater which I was NOT able to find in the US (go figure), but purchased at French Trotters in the Marais in Paris. I was hunting for it specifically, and am SO glad that I found it…
That sweater reminds of the many Aran sweaters my mother used to knit – I may have to dig out by cable needles! Happy 500th! I am looking forward to reading your next 500 posts!
Hip Hip Horray!!! 500 posts. I am so looking forward to the next 500. Are you planning on continuing with the Pantone colors? Thanks for showimg us your weekly selections! It is very helpful. xoxoxo Karen
What a wonderful milestone! You have helped me step up my game so much. I feel better about myself and people are noticing and commenting on my basic outfits. I am truly grateful.
Congratulations! You do such an imaginative job – putting things together that are not out of reach for most people. 500 is a very big number. I hope to see many, many more of your lovely, well thought out posts!
Congratulations and a big thank you! You're always inspiring, always helpful, always thought-provoking. I love your posts, looking forward to each new day but still mining the archives too.
Congratulations Janice! I have read every single post you have written and constantly refer back as I live in Australia and of course the seasons are in reverse! You are such an inspiration and recently I told my daughter about you so now she is working her way through the archives. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into this fabulous site – we really appreciate it.
Many congratulations on reaching 500 always inspiring posts. I have just published the 51st post on my own blog, so I have another 449 to go, which is a bit terrifying! As I am just starting my second season of Project 333, I am taking a lot of inspiration from your related posts. You make it seem easy to create stylish outfits, even when dressing casually, but thanks to you I can see a definite improvement in my own own wardrobe! Where did you find the shoes in your last outfit? I'd love a pair!
Janice, congrats on your 500th post! You have been and continue to be such an inspiration. Looking foward to the next 500! BTW, where did those "warm boots" come from? I've been on the hunt for something similar.
My boots are at least 10 years old, and they're from Clarks. Doc Martens makes similar ones; but I believe that the ones pictured are from Maison Martin Margiela. They exist at all price points, and don't have to be big puffy things to keep you warm! hugs, Janice
Janice, I enjoyed this post. It shows a bit of the daily planning before choosing an outfit — a useful tool.
Of course, I have a few questions:
Your velvet skirt. I have a black skirt in that basic shape, which I wear often. Since you put a lot of 'pencil skirts' into outfits, what are your recommendations for other outfits in the velvet-skirt shape?
What do you mean about the sweater being 'bright enough to register with people when I speak"?
Finally, I'd like to add that your black-and-white necklace is right on target — I picked up a similar necklace a year ago, and I'm surprised how much a black-and-white necklace perks up an outfit.
With my velvet skirt, I will wear anything that stops at my waist – I find the silhouette of blazer or long cardigan/longer full skirt to be TOO much fabric for me. Any of my waist-length sweaters or cardigan will be worn with this skirt before the winter ends.
And the argyle? It has some visual interest – both pattern and color, so I don't fade into the woodwork as much as I might in a solid black or grey outfit. I don't say anything very often in meetings, so I feel like making sure that people remember that I was there is a good idea!
Congratulations, Janice! Thank you for helping me radically change the way I view clothing. What you've created is unfussy and common sense, but classically elegant. Merci bien!
Thank you for this post Janice! I too have followed your blog for quite some time. I loved how you planned out your outfits, and the thought you put into them. Can you give some guidance or suggestions as to how you figured out the What I know, What I want and What I chose? Do you have a type of template for this, or is it very much your feeling at the time? This seems to be where I get stuck. I have a closet full of clothes, but trying to plan what to wear is the toughest step. Thank you, Vina in Canada
I'm very late to the party, but so glad I got here! Congrats. I'm looking forward to the next 500.
ps: Your advice to tie disparate colors (for me, yoga pants and random tops) together with a scarf is brilliant. People keep telling me how great my outfit is. Believe me, it's the scarf. Thank you!
just found your blog and have made a decision to buy less, much less and really look and utilise what I have already have. Was wondering if you have any suggestions to help with a wardrobe that contains items that work with a few others, but not many, so while I can make a couple of outfits I consequently don't have the ability to work the cross-overs between them – any suggestions? Many thanks Naomi

Thank you, Janice. I'll have to consider silhouettes more carefully.
Maybe since I DO talk in meetings, I should wear quiet colors – so people forget when I make a fool of myself!
